Starting January 5th, 2011 LAN will be making two of South America’s premier destinations, Machu Picchu and the Easter Island much closer with the launch of direct service from Lima, Peru to Hanga Roa, Easter Island.
Previously, a visit to Easter Island required travel to Santiago de Chile, and in most cases a forced overnight. The new flight takes about 5 hours from Lima vs. the 12+ hour journey plus overnight in Santiago. Â It is now possible to add Easter Island to your itinerary when visiting the sites of Peru such as Macchu Picchu or the Incan capital city of Cuzco.
The flight is currently scheduled to depart Lima twice a week on Wednesday and Sunday.
