In Latin America the the painted lanes on the highway are more a gentle suggestion than a tool to help define the flow traffic. Clearly Ecuador is no exception as we weave our way through the permanent rush hour traffic of Quito towards Hacienda Zuleta for Exito’s fifth annual Pre-TMLA event.
The 37th annual TMLA (Travel Mart Latin America)Â is the largest gathering of Latin American tour operators in the world. From backpacker to bourgeois, TMLA attracts the creme de la creme of tour operators and suppliers for two days of networking and seminars. With over a thousand participants from five continents TMLA ushers up the opportunity for buyers to meet with suppliers and develop their products with some of the key decision makers in the Latin American tour industry.
For the past five years Exito Travel with the help of Special Projects Coordinator and owner of Culture Xplorers, Jim Kane, have organized a one day pre-TMLA event to thank our affiliates for their patronage and to give us an opportunity to enjoy the quiet before the storm that is TMLA. This year our hosts are Fernando Polanco and Hacienda Zuleta.
Hacienda Zuleta is located about two hours north of Ecuador’s capital city of Quito. This fully functional, 4000 acre farm sits at 9,600 feet shrouded in the beauty of Ecuador’s northern Andean Mountains. The Hacienda offers an incredible variety of activities including horse back riding, mountain biking, limitless hiking, an award winning organic cheese factory, an Andean Condor rescue and breeding program as well as an active Pre-Colombian archeological excavation. To say there is something for everyone is not only cliche but the understatement of the decade.
