Join Women’s Quest in Peru this November and you will hike through the Sacred Valley, practiceyoga at sunrise in Machu Picchu, partake in the local culture of Cusco, and much more. Local guides will accompany the group to discover magnificent sites, weaving their own knowledge, traditions and ceremonies into the experience.  At the end of each day, the group will return to comfortable hotel rooms where you will be treated to Peruvian gastronomical delights. live local folk music, the skilled women weavers of Chinchero, optional coco leaf readings, yoga, spa treatments and other healing and inspirational activities.

Here are just a few adventure highlights of the trip.

Machu Picchu.  After an afternoon hike through the ruins until sunset, you will return early the next morning to practice yoga and witness sunrise over the ruins.  You will be treated to a full tour of the central ruins including the ceremonial center, sun-dial, working water channels and impressive stonework — all built in harmony with the surrounding mountains of the high jungle.  On the second day of hiking, you will ascend the Inca staircases to the top of the spectacular Huaynu Picchu, and descend down Inca steps and ladders to the back side of the mountain to explore the Moon Temple.

Sacsayhuman.  You will hike above Cusco to visit the zigzagging walls and impressive fortress of Sacsayhuaman, where you will be introduced to some of the greatest megalithic stonework in the world and learn about the significance and theories about the awe-inspiring and sophisticated construction.

Pisac.  You will explore the vast area of Pisac with a local guide whose family has lived at the base of the ruins for generations.  Here, you will find there is so much to discover, including the sun temple area, vast terraces, intact water systems, hill side tombs and famous craft market. 

Pumahuanca:  While staying in the Sacred Valley, near the village of Urubamba, you will take a special guided hike up a mountain valley not often visited by other tourists.  Here, the group will be able to explore rarely-visited ruins, waterfalls and see how the local Quechua people live high in the mountains.

DSC_0372Chinchero:  High above the Sacred Valley at 12,000 ft. , famous for its women weavers, thegroup will spend the morning in the family home of one of the guides for a weaving demonstration using native plant dyes and techniques.

Moray:  You will arrive at the terraced basins of Moray in time to participate in an early morning ceremony with a gifted sound healer who will create a meditation using traditional instruments.
