Meet the Tour Operator!

Organization: MILA Tours26593bb

Tour Operator: Sarah Erskine

Thanks for taking the time to participate in our ‘Meet the Tour Operator’ special. We’d like to ask you a few questions to get to know you and your organization.

Exito: What is your background?

Sarah: I have a Bachelor’s degree in Spanish with Latin America studies minor. I’m single with no kids. I live and work in Salem, WI with my cat Gaby.

Exito: Do you travel abroad often? Or have you even lived abroad? And where?

Sarah: I travel 2-3 times per year to Latin America primarily. I also lived in Oaxaca, Mexico as an exchange student when I was 16.

Exito: Do you speak any languages other than English?

Sarah: Yes, I speak Spanish.

Exito: When did you start or join your organization?

Sarah: I started with them in November 2002. It was my first real job out of college. I purchased the company from the founder in 2010.

Exito: What is your function in the organization?

Sarah: I wear many and all hats – sales, accounting, marketing  – you name it, I do it.

Exito: What do you enjoy most about your job?

Sarah: It’s constantly changing yet many things are the same. I love learning new things – history, cultures, food, etc.

Exito: What is one of the biggest challenges you’ve encountered?

Sarah: There is a big learning curve and I am still learning every day. It’s a lot to know, and clients expect you to know most of it.

Exito: What’s one of your biggest mistakes or even a funny story from a trip abroad?

Sarah: On a connection in Guatemala City, I received the wrong instructions from the airport staff and ended up locked out of the airport! It was not funny at the time since I almost missed my flight, but it’s funny looking back on it.

Exito: What is your organization’s philosophy, specialty, or why you think it is special?

Sarah: We really work hard to give our clients the personal service they are looking for.

Well that about covers it for us. We’d like to thank, Sarah, again for taking the time to let us pick her brain and let us see into the world of MILA Tours, which we recommend to all of you!
