How to Handle a Travel Emergency

Wildland Adventures is not only a leader in their industry, they continuously put out great quality blogs. Recently they posted a blog entitled “How to handle a travel emergency in your sleep”. Check it out if you haven’t already. It tells the nightmare of what no traveler wants to face, needing their travel arrangements fixed while they’re already traveling. Wildland Adventures solved this unbelievable horror story all while the travelers were sleeping. Check it out!

To piggyback on their handling of a travel emergency, we wanted to give eXito’s 5 things you can do to prepare for a travel emergency.

  1. Make copies of all of your important documents (passport, airline tickets, copies of your prescriptions) in case you were to lose something, something gets stolen, or you get stuck in a location longer than expected.
  2. Write down important phone numbers (doctors, family members, CC companies, banks, etc.) and keep in a secure location. Keep in a location outside of your phone in case something were to happen to your phone.
  3. Plan for a way to make phone calls. Arrange to get a sim card, a pay as you go phone that works in the area you’re traveling, or activate international roaming on your phone — all mainly for emergencies.
  4. Notify your bank and your credit card company to let them know that you will be traveling abroad and to where you’ll be going so your accounts don’t get flagged and you’ll be able to spend freely.
  5. Last, before you leave on your grand adventure, check to see if the country you are visiting is under any travel advisories or warnings. This will prevent many travel emergencies you could come across during your travels.
